4th of July Look: The Polka Dot Skirt

Posted on June 29, 2020June 6, 2023 by Shannan

Who doesn’t like a polka dot skirt? And who doesn’t like a good deal on said polka dot skirt? Can you guess how much I paid for it? Stick around and  I’ll let you know! It was a steal!

Styling this skirt for a 4th of July look was a no brainer.  It is fun and versatile. How so? I look at navy blue as a neutral color. And white is definitely neutral so pretty much any color would fit. So let’s get into these outfits, shall we? And please forgive the glare in the photos. Georgia weather is unpredictable, especially when you want to do an outside photo shoot. Cue the overcast.

Top (Dress) & Skirt: Cato Fashions

If you follow me on Instagram, then you already know the secret of this “top”. It’s actually a dress. Yep! You read that correctly. So here’s the real deal. Once upon a time, I never would have paired stripes and polka dots together. And then to add red to it and the fact that it is indeed a dress, I was really showing out! You hear me? But that’s what happens when you step outside of the box. You might surprise yourself!

Top: Old Navy
Skirt: Cato Fashions

This outfit, at its core, is the same concept as the first one. A good old copy and paste! This top is not only a dress, but is striped as well. Same concept. Different colors. Oh, but this top has a pocket! Not that I will use it, but it’s nice to have right? I also enjoy that the stripes aren’t going in the same direction. Some are horizontal. Some are vertical. And the stripes on the pocket are diagonal. What a cool concept for this navy blue and white number!

Top: Ross
Skirt: Cato Fashions

Now this look is my favorite! If you look closely, you’ll see the stripes in the top. So this outfit has stripes, florals and polka dots! Can we do one of those slow claps right here!? If you knew me growing up, I was matchy matchy. All. Day. Long. I used to watch a show called “What Not to Wear”. I remember Stacy and Clinton saying that things don’t have to match. They have to “go”. I think they would be proud.

Now back to the burning question! Have you figured out how much I paid for this skirt yet? It was originally $27.99. I paid $7.99! Yep! Clearance shopping for the win!

And that’s it for today! I hope you enjoyed these looks as much as I enjoyed styling them! What do you plan to wear? I would love to hear in the comments!

Stay tuned for two more outfit ideas for the last top! You can see those looks here. See you soon friends!
