Transitioning Into Fall: The Yellow Dress

Posted on September 17, 2020January 3, 2021 by Shannan

Start with the Yellow Dress

Who decides what colors to wear and when? Who says you can’t transition a yellow spring/summer dress into a fall/winter piece? I say, if you buy it, you decide when to wear it. Point. Blank. Period. Yes, I said it! Even the infamous white you may want to wear after Labor Day. Wear it!

When I saw this dress, the color drew me in. I don’t normally wear yellow, but I knew I wanted this to go home with me that day. This type of neckline is one of my favorites to wear. So, this purchase was a no brainer! And it has pockets! Come on y’all!

Add Boots

A quick way to get into fall is to add some cute booties! These laser cut gray booties are perfect for the transition from summer to fall. They are neutral so they will work with a ton of outfits. And do you see how low the heel is? It is perfect for my “no heel wearing” life! Cute and comfy! Sign me up!

Add a Cardigan

Can you tell the photographer had me spinning? Literally!
As you can see, I added a cardigan! Boom! Instant long sleeves! This is a good go-to and probably the most used way to transition a summer piece. The best time to buy these is when stores are replacing their winter items with spring items. This can be challenging as I tend to want to buy clothing for the upcoming season. As much as I love shopping the clearance sections, I still prefer to buy items I can wear now.

The neutral color of the cardigan tones down the brightness of the dress. Because it is on the shorter side, the tiered look of the dress is still visible. A longer cardigan could also do the trick and would add a nice contrast and dimension overall.

Add the Final Touch

I chose different earrings for each look. Let me explain. Without the cardigan, I wanted to keep the dress as the focal piece. Wearing a long necklace would distract from the pretty neckline that I wanted to show off. So I opted for just earrings. When I added the cardigan, I opted for a longer necklace which now acts as a focal point and pulls the eye in.

So, there you have it! I hope you enjoyed this look! Leave a comment to let me know how you transition your summer pieces! Until next time, have a wonderful day Comfies!

Hey y'all!!!! I'm so late, but better late than Hey y'all!!!!

I'm so late, but better late than never! This is what I wore on Thanksgiving!!!

I'm trying to get over feeling like I'm overdressed just because I wear a skirt or dress.

This sweater was a little oversized, but tucking it in made a huge difference! I started to wear the black version of this skirt, but opted for this green!

I just LOVE when an outfit comes together so well!!!!

I have to say that I'm really in the holiday spirit this year! How about you?
I worried nonstop all last week about my son's bir I worried nonstop all last week about my son's birthday party.

Would he get sick? He did. And was recovered days before his party.

Would my husband, daughter or I get sick? We didn't.

Would we have enough food? We did.

Did the place get our reservation right? They did.

You get the drift.

After all of that worrying I did, Deuce's party turned out great! Everyone had a great time!

I did all of that worrying for nothing. I wasted a full week worried for nothing.

God doesn't want us to worry about tomorrow or the days after. There's absolutely nothing we can do anyway. We don't even know if we'll even still be around tomorrow.

Let's try to enjoy today. This hour. This minute. Let's let God handle the rest.

Happy Sunday Comfies!
