For a few years, different people have suggested that I start a blog. To be honest, they probably got tired of my LONG Facebook posts. I kid. I kid. The posts were long though. What can I say? I like to talk. And I am very detailed… This is something about me you will soon learn to love! So why did I wait? Why didn’t I start a blog a few years ago?
Simple answer. I did not want to rush into anything. I have the tendency to jump in headfirst and burn out quickly. I did this when I started sewing several years ago. I would stay up all night sewing and got burned out. And then, there was the reseller life. And although I am not completely done with that life, I would find myself so immersed and staring at my phone, that I would neglect the people in my life. So I waited because really, I needed to find a way to have balance. So here I am…ready for this blog life.
And then comes the questions. What will be my focus? What will be my niche? I’d like to consider myself to be multifaceted. Afterall, I am a Christian, wife, mother, daughter, sister, friend, lover of cheesy romantic comedies, fashion and food. So where does that leave me? I’ve heard all my life that if you do something you love, you’ll never work a day in your life. But is that true? How could that be?
To be honest, the only “job” that would not feel like a job would have to involve fashion. So what about retail? Nope. I tried that a few years ago. While I loved the discount and was quite frankly one of the store’s best customers, the schedule combined with standing on my feet for an extended period of time was too much. And then, a few years ago, I ventured into selling clothing online. That was cool and something I will probably get back into, but I don’t know if that really fits my love for fashion. So what will?
Well, because I like to wear pretty clothes and talk, why not TALK about fashion! What a novel idea right? So here I am. Ready to take the blogging world by storm. It has taken a lot for me to feel comfortable enough to put myself out there. But every reward is worth the risk.
Through this blog, I hope to inspire you to be the best version of yourself while looking fabulous while doing it! I hope to chat about the latest fashion trends and how to get the most bang for your buck. Because let me tell you, I am a clearance shopper through and through. And I would be hard pressed to pay more than $20 for anything.
But beyond the clothing, I also want to touch on being happy with what you see in the mirror. (See here for more on this topic.) I want to explore what it means to not only pick out clothing that fits your body type, but that reflects the person you are inside. And while I don’t believe that fashion makes the woman, I do believe that putting on an outfit that fits you just right can create a better outlook on your day. I know how it feels to go to a closet full of clothing and to still feel like I have nothing to wear. That nothing will look good on me.
I am here to tell you that no matter your size, you can build a wardrobe that can match the taste and “cuteness” of anyone while remaining true to yourself. So I hope you’re ready to take this journey with me. In the meantime, and because this blog will ultimately be about fashion, I will leave you with this. You gotta wear clothes right? So why not look good while doing it!
